Baby Ventures Storytime and Book Drive benefiting Ines Maria Mendoza School

Join East City Bookshop and Baby Ventures for a featured storytime benefiting Ines Mariz Mendoza School in Puerto Rico. Golzar and Lisa, local co-authors of Baby Ventures™ children’s books, are traveling to Ines Maria Mendoza School in San Juan, Puerto Rico to host a series of storytimes for students with their new bilingual release ¡Números, Baby!

Help us collect quality books for Golzar and Lisa to donate to the school libary!

In the wake of Hurricane Maria, Escuela Ines Maria Mendoza became a “receptor” school – it took in students whose local schools were destroyed by this unprecedented natural disaster. Now serving children from age 18 months to 18 years, Escuela Ines Maria Mendoza needs quality books to bolster its library circulation.

How To Donate Books

Please consider purchasing books to donate to the school’s library - our staff will gladly assist you in selecting titles!

If purchasing books online, simply write "Baby Ventures donation" in the order comments.

Books can be in English and/or Spanish, fiction or non-fiction, for ages 18 months to YA, including:

  • Picture books, chapter books and graphic novels
  • Series books (like Harry Potter) and Who Was series (historical and modern figures)
  • Coming of age stories, stories about diversity and leading YA titles
  • Travel and science books, and reference books such as atlases and encyclopedias

We will also accept donations of gently loved books that are suitable for school-aged children.
