East City Bookshop presents a featured storytime with Caldecott-winner Sophie Blackall (Hello Lighthouse) and Caldecott Honors authors Grace Lin (A Big Mooncake for Little Star) and Oge Mora (Thank You, Omu!).
Sophie Blackall is the two-time Caldecott Medalist and bestselling artist behind Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World's Most Famous Bear and Hello Lighthouse. Her work has appeared in the bestselling Ivy and Bean series, many award-winning picture books, a global pro-vaccination campaign, and on a renowned NYC subway poster.
Grace Lin is the award-winning and bestselling author and illustrator of When the Sea Turned to Silver, Starry River of the Sky, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, The Year of the Dog, The Year of the Rat, Dumpling Days, and Ling & Ting, as well as picture books such as The Ugly Vegetables and Dim Sum for Everyone! Grace’s most recent picture book, A Big Mooncake for Little Star, is a 2019 Caldecott Honor Book and her next book, A Big Bed for Little Snow will hit shelves this fall.
Oge Mora’s debut picture book, Thank You, Omu, is a 2019 Caldecott Book and a 2019 CSK John Steptoe Award for New Talent Winner. Oge graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in illustration. When not painting in her studio, Oge is in the kitchen cooking her late grandmother's recipes. Oge’s next book, Saturday, will be available this fall.
