East City Poetry Series: It’s Your Mug 26th Anniversary Reading hosted by Toni Asante Lightfoot and featuring a veritable Who’s Who:

It’s an odd year anniversary for an odd little reading. This utterly singular event will be a reenactment of a night at It's Your Mug.

3 sets:
1) 20 readers read one poem
2) Themed set: Legends and Legacies: Poems from 5 readers. Each of the 5 Muggers read work from a teacher they've had, a student they've taught, plus one of their own
3) Drive-by set

It’s Your Mug was an open mic organized and championed by poet Toni Asante Lightfoot that popped weekly at 2601 P Street, NW from February 1, 1994 to August 20, 1996. It was the place for poetry in DC and its influence and consequence continues to resonate. A not to be missed gathering and celebration.

Following the reading, keep the anniversary bash going by heading down the street to Capitol Hill's iconic pub and jazz venue Mr. Henry's  who are offering a special It's Your Mug deal: free mug of beer or a soft drink with a purchase. Coupons will be available at the event.
