About the Books:

Monsters: A Love Story is the story of Stacey Lane, recently widowed poet and certified mess, and unbelievably sexy Hollywood star Tommy DeMarco. Tommy's passion for Stacey's novel-in-verse (a feminist reimagining of Frankenstein, no less) will set their lives on a collision course as they go about making the book into a movie, making each other crazy, and making love but only in secret. Fueled by desire, love, grief, the expectations of gender, parenthood, and expertly poured cocktails, Monsters: A Love Story is a witty portrait of a relationship gone off the rails and two people who are made for each other even if they re not so sure they see it that way.

In After the Dam, thirty-two-year-old Rachel Clayborne flees with her baby in the middle of the night for the one place on earth that's been her refuge: her grandmother's lakehouse in northern Wisconsin. Hoping to reconnect with a former, healthier self, she instead faces a confused and dying grandmother, her ever-present nurse who seems bent on thwarting each of Rachel's desires, and a changed ex-boyfriend—her first and most passionate love. As a constant rain threatens the nearby dam, Rachel struggles to discern what's happened to the past, who she's become, and what kind of a life she will make for herself now.

In When the World Breaks Open, Seema Reza uncovers the lessons she learned through motherhood and a dysfunctional and abusive marriage, and how she used her discoveries to make a meaningful difference in the world. This lyrical, non-linear narrative memoir traces Reza's journey from repressed suburban housewife to coordinator of a unique creative-expression military hospital program. Through observing her own experiences from the darkest moments of her life and investigating societal attitudes towards loss, love, motherhood, and community, Reza exposes her triumphs, weaknesses, fears and regrets, and undermines the idea that strength requires silence.
