Join the National Women's History Museum and author / activist Stephanie Schriock and moderator Maria Theresa Kumar for a discussion of Stephanie's new book Run to Win: Lessons in Leadership for Women Changing the World! , Stephanie will be available for live Q&A with the audience throughout the conversation.
In her powerful foreword to RUN TO WIN, Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Kamala Harris shares the truth of it all: “The American Dream—and our American democracy—is on the line like never before… That is why we all have a responsibility and a role in fighting for a nation with equal treatment collective purpose, and justice for all. We need economic justice, environmental justice, health care justice, and, yes, justice for women. And frankly, we know that when we lift up women, we lift up our children, we lift up our families, and we lift up our economy. All of society benefits. Unfortunately, today, there are not enough women, particularly women of color, seated at the decision-making table to make that change happen.” In RUN TO WIN, Schriock shares her journey, revealing some of the hardest obstacles that she has had to overcome and how it is precisely these moments that inspire her to coach the next generation of women leaders in the fight for change. Using real life examples and stories from candidates such as Tammy Duckworth, Stacey Abrams, Elizabeth Warren, and Amy Klobuchar, and organized around the same steps EMILY’s List uses to coach their candidates, RUN TO WIN takes readers through the essential steps—from deciding to run to celebrating victory—all women need to follow when looking to rise up and lead in any arena.
Author: Stephanie Schriock joined EMILY's List as president in 2010 and in that role, has championed women, trained them to lead, and successfully steered the organization through a decade of phenomenal growth. Today, there are over 5 million members of EMILY's List, supporters who have donated, demonstrated, and supported women candidates. Since Election Day 2016, nearly 60,000 women have reached out asking EMILY’s List for help running for office. Schriock’s experience through two decades of campaigns, including coaching successful women running in recent elections makes her the authority on the strategies women can employ to run, fight, and win.
